1 - The Parthenon - You cannot visit Athens
without visiting the Acropolis to see the Parthenon. This
is the most recognized symbol of Greece and has stood atop
the Acropolis of Athens for nearly 2,500 years. It was built
to give thanks to the Greek goddess Athena.
2 - Ancient Agora - These ruins are located
in the valley below Acropolis, where Plato and Socrates taught
2,500 years ago. The Temple of Hephaestos can also be seen
here.
3 - The Temple Of Poseidon at Sounion -
the National Archaeological Museum contains artifacts from
ancient civilizations and is known as one of the world’s
greatest museums.
4 - National Archaeological Museum - The
Tower of London is one of the most famous structures in the
world and is where the Crown Jewels are housed. There are
many exhibitions and re-enactments depicting London’s
rich history.
5 - Samaria Gorge - Take a hike through Europe’s
longest gorge. The gorge is cut by a stream, which flows between
the highest peak of the White Mountains. The gorge is well
known for its breathtaking vistas.
6 - Sail the Greek archipelago - The Greek
archipelago has over six thousand stunning islands; you can
explore the islands on your own or take a tour. You cannot
leave Greece without seeing its amazing islands.
7 - The Agora-Athens Central Market - This
lively market is a perfect place to shop for souvenirs and
eat; the small restaurants at the market have excellent food.
A stroll down this market is a unique experience.
8 - Mount Lycabettus - Take the train to
the top of Mount Lycabettus for one of the best views of the
city. There is also an amphitheater where you can see plays
in the summer.
9 - Rhodes Towne - A beautiful walled city
where the statue of the sun god Helios use to stand. This
city offers some great ancient medieval sites.
10 - National Garden - The National Garden
is like a tropical paradise in the middle of Athens. You can
spend hours walking in this beautiful garden.
